LOCAL WINE MAKERS COMPETITION RULES
1.The competition is open to all aged 18 years and above who make their own wine using artesan techniques.
2.The grapes must be grown within the boundaries of Llíber and Jalon. The competition is for red wine from the following local varieties of grape :-Garnacha Tinto (Giro), Garnacha Tintorera, Bobal, Tempranillo, Monastrell, Merlot, Cabernet Suavignon y Syrah.
3.Wine must be entered in 2 bottles provided by the competition organisers 2 days before the competition date. Each bottle will be numbered corresponding to the number alloted to the participant on the inscription list. The name, surname, DNI and address of participant on the list will not be seen by the jury. The grape varieties, place where grown and where the wine was made (also within Llíber and Jalon boundaries) must also be entered.
4.The tasting will be done by a committe of tasters, minimun 5 persons, preferably chosen from the hostelry industry, winegrowers, sommeliers, other professionals from the wine industry, the Mayor of Llíber and / or a delegated councillor.
The jury will award points from 1 to 10 to each wine and the five bottles with the highest points will then pass to a final tasting. Prizes will be awarded to the three wines scoring the highest marks from these five finalists.
The winning wines will pass all the phases of the judging - visual , aroma and taste.
5.The final date for inscriptions at the Town Hall of Llíber will be Friday 9 March at 14.30 hours. Participants agree to follow and accept the rules of the competition by their inscription, where their details will be recorded along with the assigned number for each participant . Only 2 wines per participant will be accepted.
