IV COMPETITION FOR LOCAL WINES OF LLÍBER
COMPETITION RULES
- All local winemakers using artesanal methods and aged 18 and above are invited to take part in the competition.
- Grapes must be from vines grown within the Llíber and Jalon boundaries. The wine must be red and from the 2016 harvest, from the native varieties - Red Garnacha (Giro), Garnacha Tintorera, Bobal, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The wine must be made by the grower. Wine that has been purchased or produced by a professional wine maker will not be accepted.
- The wine must be presented in 2 bottles. available for collection from the Town Hall from 20 to 24 February 2017. Each bottle will be numbered and numbers correspond with the inscription sheet, which will include the competitors full name, DNI or NIE and address and area where the grapes are grown (this sheet will not be seen by the panel of judges).
- The panel of judges will consist of a minimum of 5, with knowledge of wine from growers, sommeliers, wine makers, restaurants or specialists plus the Mayor or designated member of the Council.
Each wine will be judged on a scale of 1 to 10 and the five wines receiving the highest scores will pass to a final judging. Prizes will be awarded to the three wines with the highest score.
The winning wines will have received the highest score in the three stages of the tasting - visual, aroma and taste.
- Entry closes at 14.30 on Friday 24 February. By inscription, competitors agree to abide by the rules of the competition and the assigned number and provide 2 bottles of wine for judging.
- The competition will take place on Sunday 26 February at 11.30 in Llíber Social Centre.
